PNG guest workers given green light
05 May 2009
By the time the first workers arrive, the project will have been quite a while coming. But it seems between 600 and 800 workers from Papua New Guinea will be in Australia later this
year, in time for the fruit picking season.
PNG Prime Minister
Sir Michael Somare announced the news after an official State
visit to Australia last week. Foreign Minister Sam Abal, who was with Sir
Michael in Australia, said PNG will start sending workers in October or
November this year.
