FORMER PAPUA NEW GUINEA prime minister and the founder of the Melanesian Spearhead Group, Sir Michael Somare, is in Fiji.
Sir Michael arrived Friday morning and was received by Fiji’s Foreign Minister Ratu Inoke Kubuabola at Nadi International Airport (photo).
He is chief guest at the MSG’s 25th anniversary celebrations that kicked off in Suva today.
The three-day event will include performances by University of South Pacific students, documentaries on Melanesia and a fashion parade to showcase Melanesian fabric and style.
I heard Sir Michael speak today at the MSG celebrations at USP Suva and he looked and spoke well.

I don't know what the picture of Sir Michael arriving in Fiji says to others, but to me he doesn't look very well at all. Perhaps he should think about doing what the former Pope did, and retire.
