I am the green betel nut
Amidst beautified Port Moresby 
For all reddish spit stains
And much litter heaped
I am innocently blamed

The green betel nut I am
Amnesty is most sought
For Buai Ban policy conceived
And killings resulted
I am innocently implicated

Greenly I am betel nut
Amiss repute I accrue
For innocuously beautiful I am
And much ugliness bequeath
I am innocently perpetrated

Betel I am greenness nut
Amiably no gratitude conferred
From vendors or sellers richly blessed
And chewers’ stimulant on demand
I am innocently not appreciated
