The hillside find
MSG decision disappointing, says Solomons academic

I tasted life

HELEN DOKUP

An entry in the Crocodile Prize
Kina Securities Award for Poetry

I tasted childhood it was memorable
I cried, laughed, played and made mistakes
I learned and knew someone watched over me

I tasted adolescence, the years when the flowers bloom
I spread my wings to fly
It was the years when I had learn a lot
The good old days

I tasted single life
I mixed and mingled
Partied like there was no tomorrow
It was sweet like honey
Full of cotton candy, milk and cookies

I tasted married life
It was bitter and sour
I got bruises, scars and rejected

I tasted Christian life
I was safe, free from worry and trouble
I was happy even in the storm

Now I know what life is
I tasted it
