Talkative teacher

RACHAEL KURIA

An entry in the Crocodile Prize
Kina Securities Award for Poetry

Teacher, Teacher,
You are the morning eagle
You stand at the gate
Like a security guard
And caution us the late comers

Teacher, Teacher,
You talk like a preacher
Preaching everyday
As if no one is listening
Or paying attention

Teacher, Teacher,
You speak wisdom
Preach common sense,
Scream and hit us
When we don’t listen

Teacher, Teacher,
You are never tired
You talk all day
Your day never changes
All in the name of education

Teacher, Teacher,
You give us the best
Even if you have to repeat
You do so with patience
You value education

Teacher, Teacher,
Thank you for the hard work
Time and commitment
God bless all teachers.
