Goodwill
11 December 2015
An entry in the 2015 Rivers Award
for Writing on Peace & Harmony
With eyes all red in rage
I was told to calm down,
to sit and cool down,
meditate and breathe,
I was told.
This rage and anger
reduced to calm,
watered down by good
words from an open heart.
Like a splendour unseen,
a covenant renewed
between man and goodwill.
A rain of hate on grounds of faith,
I realised my faith being shaken,
But by the grace of God,
and intercession of man,
I am delivered.
Pastors and priests
speak of goodwill,
in their words I stand.
A typhoon of jealousy blows by
but by the will of God and man
I stride through the eye of the storm.
Strong I am
I am what I am
as strong a man
with the will of mankind.
