I Believe

I-believeWARDLEY D. BARRY-IGIVISA

An entry in the 2016 Crocodile Prize

I believe in the flightless bird,
That it can soar above the herd.
I believe in the tree leafless;
I believe that its dead branches
Can bear leaves and fruit on a bad day.

I believe in love torn apart.
I believe there’re songs in your heart’;
There’s a music in your silence,
And in your silence there’s romance.
I believe that nothing dies away.

There is power in every word;
That are thought, spoken or unheard.
It’s in the depths of nothingness
That something is born, darkness
Fathers the star that soar like a bird.

I believe in legends untold.
I believe heroes don’t grow old,
They just grow stronger and smarter;
That good people live forever,
And are clothed in crowns of fine gold.

I believe we’re all born heroes,
And crowned with destiny’s halos.
Dreams are given by God to show
What we can be tomorrow.
We’re born to walk the path of rainbows.
