Democracy Challenged

DemocracyJIMMY AWAGL

Majority are quiet
Leaders are quiet

Minority is challenged
They are suppressed

Freedom of expression undermined
Democratic rights deprived

Students peaceful protest
Is a democratic process

But shot at by police
Do they understand democracy?

We are challenged and repressed
Our grievances not to be expressed

Due process undermined
By leaders as if above the law

Is this democracy?
Is this justice?

Why can’t the police pursue the crooks
Rather than providing armed escorts?

Is this democracy
In a democratic country?

Why is a corrupt leader bending
Democracy for his personal gain?
