Where we’re up to with the Francis Nii book
12 October 2020
NOOSA – As I’ve written before, ‘Man Bilong Buk’ (‘The Bookman’) edited by Phil Fitzpatrick and me is unfortunately not available in Papua New Guinea – which Amazon seems to have now taken off its distribution list.
With Amazon the printer and sole supplier, I’ve been working to establish an alternative distribution network for this wonderful 320 page illustrated book about the life and writing of the late Papua New Guinean author, Francis Nii.
Recognising that the book is too expensive for most Papua New Guineans to purchase, I’ve relied on donations from PNG Attitude readers to cover the cost of the books which will be selectively distributed free of cost to PNG writers and members of the Nii family.
I have been able to order about 80 of these books from Amazon which will be sent to me in Noosa and then distributed in small packages to PNG.
We also still have our “two books for the price of one” deal operating where, if readers buy a copy for $60 (post and packing within Australia included) for their own use, PNG Attitude will send one free to a Papua New Guinean wantok to read and share.
This requires you to take just two steps: (1) Transfer $60 to our bank account (Keith Jackson BSB 082-302 Account 50650-1355); (2) Send an email to me here advising your postal address.
Amazon has now begun to distribute the books from its United States depot although I have not yet received my large consignment.
As soon as I do the books will be individually packaged and sent to Papua New Guinea.
If you are a Papua New Guinean writer, or are in another position where you believe you should get a free copy of this magnificent book, send me an email telling me why you should be added to the list.
