Papuan infantry on parade,  World War II (Australian War Memorial)

In New Guinea's wild, where jungles breathe,
A tale of courage, weaved beneath the trees.
Papuan sons, with hearts so bold,
Stood as brothers, in tales untold.

Through dense green canopy, they tread,
Their spirits forged, their fears misled.
With every step, they held the line,
Bound by valour, their destinies entwined.

Amidst the chaos, in the heat of fray,
They fought as one, come what may.
In the rugged terrain, where danger lay,
Their bond unbroken, through night and day.

With spears of old, and rifles new,
They faced the foe, their resolve true.
For freedom's call, they dared to strive,
In Papuan's heart, they kept hope alive.

Side by side, they braved the storm,
A testament to unity, in battle's form.
For Papua New Guineans and Australians alike,
Their legacy endures, a beacon bright.

So let their stories echo, through history's span,
The Papua New Guineans, alongside Australians, they stand.
In New Guinea's heart, their valour sings,
Forever honoured, as heroes with wings.

It is good to witness the rememberance in this epic and solemn salute, fittingly first published on Ples Singsing.

Thank you Kenneth Miamba.
